Invitation: Youth Action Now Official Project Launch
You are invited to the Youth Action Now Official
Project Launch, scheduled for
Date: March 1st, 2004
Time: 10:45 AM
Location: Michael A. Riffel High School, 5757 Rochdale Blvd., Regina
In December 2003, Secretary of State Jean Augustine (Multiculturalism)
(Status of Women) announced $415,000 of funding over three years
for the Youth Action Now project through the Department of Canadian
Heritage. Youth Action Now is designed to develop youth leadership
in multiculturalism issues.
The project will enable the province’s youth to voice their concerns
for the future of Saskatchewan. It will be an example of how young
people, regardless of background, can come together to become active
members of society and affect change and contribute to its growth,
dynamism and cultural diversity. Interactive youth forums, to be
held in seven regions across the province, will be the starting
point to develop action plans for activities that combat racism,
celebrate diversity, and support multiculturalism in local institutions.
Youth Action Now has been developed by members from the Ukrainian
Canadian Congress-Saskatchewan Provincial Council and the Multicultural
Council of Saskatchewan.
The Project Launch will highlight the Department of Canadian Heritage’s
significant contribution to the project. The Launch will also provide
a summary of the project as well as the background of what led up
to this project. The Launch will also showcase a variety of dancers
representing different cultures (from First Nations to Italian and
Ukrainian).
The Youth Action Now Project Launch promises to be a dynamic, high
energy showcase involving a variety of cultural groups, as well
as a more in-depth introduction to the project.
