Seeking Ukrainian language/culture teachers -- Nov 30 deadline
November 26, 2009 -- The Saskatchewan Organization
for Heritage Languages (www.heritagelanguages.sk.ca)
is looking for Ukrainian language instructors and an honorarium
of $30/hour exists. Teachers must apply to participate by Monday,
November 30, 2009. Please see information
poster (PDF) about teaching in the Mini Language Lessons Program
across the province.
SOHL places teachers in communities all over Saskatchewan; individuals
interested in teaching outside of the municipality in which they
reside may do so as well. As an example, the Elementary School in
Hafford is a UNESCO Associate school. Hafford community was originally
settled by Ukrainian immigrants and the teachers there feel that
the culture is becoming lost. They wish to create a special class
in the school for Ukrainian language and culture lessons if a Ukrainian
teacher can be located for them. SOHL is able to pay a little in
transportation costs, and so even an individual who wishes to commute
to teach could participate.
Those interested should contact Leah
Perlett, Program Coordinator at the SOHL office in Regina as
soon as possible as they will need to match up schools/teachers
all over the province. They like to notify the teachers prior to
the Christmas break whether or not their application was successful
to assist with their planning.
